Why Fox News is a Joke
As i flipped through the channels at about 2:30 last night i came upon a show that i think may be one of the worst and most outrageous shows ever. The show i am referring to is “Red Eye” on the Fox News Channel. This show was despicable and should be taken off air immediately. Its not the fact that Fox is an extremely biased network that offers pseudojournalism. Rather it has to do with the disgraceful comments made by guests and especially its host Greg Gutfeld. Comments made by him should be banned from the airways.
Last night, they were discussing the recent controversy at Harvard University, in which the school set aside a few hours a week in order to better serve Islam women. I believe that these women have the right to work out without having to feel uncomfortable. Whether or not you agree with me, I do not think you would say the things that Mr. Gutfeld did. He said that the women of Harvard did not have the rights to do this and compared it to the idea of someone saying they did not want to workout around homosexuals and Jews. Showing that not only is he homophobic and antisemitic, but does not respect other cultures and religions.
In addition he said “what do these women have to work out for. They are always covered in those long robe things. Who cares what they look like.” How could this man be allowed to say these things on television. After watching his show, i researched him online and came across more evidence of just how dumb this man is. One of his recent “Greg-alouges” has him talking about blogging. He says that this media is stupid, in that it allows people to read all of your personal thoughts. Duhh Greg! Thats the point! Further, he suggests using a telephone to communicate. Come on Greg, join us in the 21st century. Everyone in the media knows that blogs are becoming the most important medium of communication. If you do not know this, then you should not be in the media. He signs off with the statement “if you disagree with me, than you sir, are worse than Hitler.” Are you kidding Greg? Hitler? This just further shows how antisemitic and ignorant you are.
Another comment he makes is about Ben and Jerry’s recent endorsement for Sen. Obama. Mr. Gutfeld compares their ice cream to guns and tobacco. However, it looks as if Mr. Gutfeld himself has a freezer stocked with Phish Food.
I had to stop watching his videos here, because i just had to write about it, but there were plenty more, including How Hollywood is Helping Al Qaeda, “How its easy to Stereotype Red Necks,” How charity work done for troops in Iraq is not worth it, how we should have more kids–because even though we are bound to have lots of stupid ones, we will eventually have a smart one (flawless logic Greg)–and many more videos. Each one more despicable than the next.
Though I do not think that Fox News should be allowed to have their own channel, I do not think this will happen any time soon. However, if enough people complain about this show, maybe we keep just one more person from influencing people the wrong way. Greg Gutfeld is a terrible person and something should be done to stop him. If you disagree with me, than you sir, are worse than Mr. Gutfeld.
At the airport
Im sitting in the airport right now, waiting for my flight back home for spring break! I had a great feeling for a while, as my mind went through all im going to do this next week. However, i am watching the news on a hanging TV and they have Fox news on. As if this wasn’t bad enough, they are showing a piece about how some planes were found to be unsafe lately. I cant hear the audio, but the headlines are saying things about how the planes arent being checked well enough and security isnt what it should be. Well, just thought that this was a kind of funny and maybe a bit ironic story that someone may want to hear. Well, my next post should be on spring break….maybe about the upcoming Phillies game im going to see on thursday. Well that is if i even make it home!
No Country for What?
Just came back from a very interesting evening watching ‘No Country for Old Men’ at Goldstein. I know its late and I know I should have gone out and seen this in the theaters, but I ave just not had the time. now that i have seen it I cannot believe that this was an Oscar winning film. It was a well filmed, high budget, horror film! I don’t even think that this should have beaten out Atonement. At least it was an enjoyable watch. No country just had me hiding behind my hands. This years picks for Oscars have me thinking that Hollywood is not in good shape. With the recent writers strike I don’t see how this year is going to be any better. Hopefully, they will get their act together and will put out some good movies instead of ’strange wilderness’ ‘no country’ or any of the other shit they have been stuffing down our throats for the past year.
Syracuse Bubble Burst
Well after today’s last minute lost to Pittsburgh, it seems as if Syracuse has no more hopes of receiving an at large bid. Up until three minutes to go in the second half, ‘cuse was playing a near flawless game. The loud house was rocking. However, when Paul Harris lost the ball with only nine seconds left, an eerie silence fell over all. It seems as if the bubble has been popped on Syracuse’s hopes for post-season play (thats not NIT). The final two games should not make too much of a difference and a first round game in the Big East tourney against Pitt, Marquette, or West Virginia, does not look too hopeful. Maybe next year will hold a long awaited NCAA birth for cuse. The unlikely return of Donte Greene and definite return of Eric Devendorf and Andie Rautins will be a huge boast too a very talented team.
